PLANTING A DREAM

Armed with a major in photography from Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Dilip More’s journey of artistic passion took him from an Art Director to launching D3, a Production Design company. His worklog maps commercials, feature films, docudrama series, murals and art installations of national as well as global standing. But, as an artist, what Dilip prizes most in his heart are his interactions with innumerable artists and craftsmen. What comes with it is the growing fear of losing one’s own artistic heritage to apathy, to the fading of knowledge.

A fear shared by his wife and partner, Darshana. An advertising visualizer, also an Alumna of Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art with a major in Illustration. A fear that concerns their son, Devam, a Masters graduate from Institut Supérieur de Design, Rubika, France in Industrial Design and Engineering. And so, in 2011, was sown the seed of an idea called Kalangan Farms.

“We saw one dream. To create a common space for the various traditional artistic works from India under one roof. So, here we are, with our farm art-resort. Providing ample space for 12 rooms, each dedicated to 12 different traditional art forms from all over India. As our own humble effort, to hopefully nestle a space for our heritage arts and crafts in our guests’ hearts.”
